A Wild Day at Disney’s Animal Kindgom

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Our feet are sore, our eyes tired and our wallets empty, but we had the absolute BEST vacation of all time. There is entirely too much to share after a full week at Disney World, so I’ll tackle these memories one day at a time, beginning with our day at The Animal Kingdom, one of Rylies’ favorites. A girl after my own heart.

Welcome to Harambe… we danced, rode a truck through the savannah and ate lunch with Donald, Mickey and Goofy. We never even made it to the other half of the park.

If you ever visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you HAVE to have a character lunch at the Tusker House. While the lighting is terrible for character photos, it’s probably the best buffet meal you can get pretty much anywhere.

Despite the fact that we missed so much, the day couldn’t be more perfect. If Rylie could spend every day dancing and watching parades, she’d be the happiest kid on the planet.

Phoenix Secrets – Enchanted Island at Encanto Park

Despite her lack of enthusiasm, I can assure you this kid is a thrill seeker! I was excited to find this new little treasure right in the heart of Phoenix. Enchanted Island at Encanto Park. We’ve been cooped up inside for far too long this summer and Rylie and I are ready to get out and be adventurous. With the cooler weather coming, my guess is that we’ll be spending a lot of time at this fun park geared toward littles of (mostly) her size. We just need a few more inches to get on the “dinosaur” (AKA dragon roller coaster).I think this is a good first step toward the fun we’ll be having next month on her first trip to Disney.

Little Girl Adventures

In the blink of an eye this little one has become such a big girl. It’s tough keeping up with her, but we have so much fun on our little adventures. We spent last weekend exploring Phoenix parks. It was a weekend of firsts. First swing (she didn’t like it), first merry go round (loved it), first train ride (she was on the fence about this one).

On Saturday we visited the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. All day long we pretended to pull our whistle and say choo choo. Watching her excitement about everything that’s going on around her is so fascinating. Such little things make her so happy. I wish everyone could live like that. We rode the tiniest train ever and I only got a little nervous when she started saying all done, only half way through the ride. She was easily distracted by the other train passing us though, she waved to everyone on it and we made it through to the end. The carousel was by far her favorite attraction of the day though.

Sunday was family day. We spent the morning at Cesar Chavez Park and even ran into one of Rylies classmates. We fed ducks, slid on slides and attempted another go at the swings.

So much for this little girl to explore… what should we do next weekend?
