She said “Mama”

For the first time this morning Rylie said MAMA. It was such a sweet sound. One that I’ve been waiting a long time to hear. I love her.

My baby has grown so big since I last posted. I can’t believe she will be ONE next week. She doesn’t seem like a baby any more, she’s my little girl. The sweetest little girl with the silliest little laugh and such a big heart. Here are just a few things she’s been up to…

Eating real people food – everything from french toast to pizza and pasta, her favorites are refried beans and spanish rice. Give that girl a bean burrito and she goes to town!

Who’sat – Rylie loves to point at people and things and say Who’sat.

I’m still standing – Just last week she learned to stand on her own. It was so funny, she would get so excited, start clapping and laughing hysterically and then fall on her booty. Push herself back up again and do it all over. Now she can stand for nearly 2 minutes without holding on to anything.

Almost walking – Yesterday while helping mama with the laundry, Rylie stood up and pushed the laundry basket all over the room as she removed articles of clothes from it for mommy to put away. Already a little helper.

Signing – We’re still working on our sign language but we definitely have “all done” down pat. Not only does she sign it but says ah-dah while waving her arms. We are still working on the sign for more.

Kisses – This kiddo can’t get enough kisses. In fact she’s getting herself in trouble for open mouth kissing her class mates. She’s learning to better pucker up and loves to kiss everyone! Rylie’s teachers often speak to her in spanish so she has also learned to blow besos (kisses). She covers her mouth with her hand and then dramatically pulls it away. She’s already an actress!

Peek a boo – nuff said

Most importantly – Rylie has now been sleeping through the night for a week straight. All that standing up/falling down must be wearing her out. Granted it’s a bit of a chore to get her to go to sleep, but currently the trick is to bring her for a walk around the block.

The list goes on. This girl is growing up so fast and my love for her grows and grows everyday.

Stay tuned for updates from this weekends birthday bash. And if you don’t see it on my blog you can always check out my TLC special about mom’s that throw extravagant birthday parties that their one year olds will never remember. OK, well not that extreme but it’s gonna be great!

Sweet Saturday Turned Sour

Rylie and I are having a living room slumber party tonight. We haven’t done this in a while but she hasn’t been feeling well and it makes me feel better to sleep close to her. Right now she’s in her swing laughing hysterically at the What’s Up With That skit on Saturday Night Live. This kid!

Rewind…

I always have a hard time leaving Rylie for long periods of time, but I decided I wanted to start my vacation in a relaxing way, so I planned to have a day of beauty, shopping, and relaxation for today. Harris agreed to stay with Rylie, all my appointments were booked, and I was ready to go.

I started my Saturday getting a mani/pedi with my VERY pregnant friend Nicole. She isn’t due til March but I am convinced her baby will come by the end of this weekend. Then off to the Benefit Brow Bar at Ulta to get my brows waxed. OK, not so relaxing but looking much better. Lastly I headed to Suddenly Slimmer for an amazing massage. Ahhh, Spa ahhh. It was fantastic. Until…

I left the spa and texted Harris to see if he wanted me to bring him some grub. No response. I called. No answer. So I went to Wildflower, got myself a grilled cheese and some soup and sat and waited to hear from him.

Text: Rylie just threw up all over me.

AWESOME. I went into super mom mode rushing to get home and get to my baby, who was sitting on the floor playing and laughing when I got home. Sick, or not sick? I can’t tell. Can’t get the kid to drink her bottles. She keeps having smaller throw up incidents, nothing like what happened to Harris though. She’s had a cough for a few days now. I should have known last night that something was up. She didn’t sleep well at all. I’ve been taking her temperature, it’s a little high but really not enough to be concerned.

So looks like we might be taking a trip to the urgent care tomorrow. We need to get this baby better before my long haul cross country with her Wednesday. Wish us luck

BTW what’s up with this band on SNL tonight? Sleigh Bells? No good.

Oh, and I’m not a fan of The Bachelor, but if you are, and if you attended my wedding, you might just recognize the place they filmed in this episode.

Rylie is finally off to dream land and I am on my way. Here’s to a better Sunday.
